this place. is the best. i am way behind documenting and have promised myself to be better! so, get ready for a little photo explosion. there are so many little moments and memories every day that i want to remember so, enjoy. (lots of photos...you've been warned!)
one of my favorite things about the city is the fresh fruit and flowers, EVERYWHERE! you can't go more than a couple streets in the upper west side without seeing corners bursting with fruit and florals. it makes me so happy every time i walk past.
guys. our breakfast is always in bed. because we literally don't have a table. or chairs. but i did pick up a couple classy trays at ikea so ya know, we are sortof civilized.
we went to some friends a couple weekends ago and i was bringing the treats. i couldn't get over that the closest bakery to me was magnolia's! i can definitely get used to this.
this was right after a man who lives in my building came into the elevator with me and was (completely wasted) and cried to me that he had just quit his job. while he was drunk. and "probably didn't think it through". needless to say, one of the more interesting rides up i've had. and another reason i don't drink.
these streets. we walk past these brownstones almost daily and i love their colors.
i feel like i have been waiting ever so patiently for the leaves to change in central park. i know they will be here before i know it, i just cannot waitttttt!
almost weekly visits to the met (and always to see degas) that place gets better and better each time.
a couple weeks ago we were craving cafe rio. i told ralph it wouldn't be as good, but i would attempt recreating our favorite pork! it was not to shabby i must say, but nothing ever compares to the real thing!
on a sunday after dinner, we ventured out of our apartment only to find a full blown opera concert 20 steps from our place. we sat, enjoyed the humid-less air, and their incredible voices. (my favorite was when they sang billie holiday "summertime". so fun to hear an opera version!)
on a friday night, we got some sweetgreen take out and headed central park where a huge concert was going on. as we were walking in, we heard ellie goulding and found a little spot to lay and hear. so fun and we saved $200 bucks sitting behind the fence ;)
the grand central ceiling. a forever favorite.
walks at dusk in the upper west. my favorite place to be.
you know life is good when they serve fresh levain cookies at a relief society night.
this card is such a funny little representation of new york. i completely agree with the last statement.
cookbooks are always the prettiest. i loved flipping through these ones! limited counter space (we are talking the size of your cutting board) but better place to practice than any!
delicious conference morning brunch at our friends place. i made german pancakes because conference sunday is never complete without german pancakes.
once a month we walk a couple blocks to the local barber and ralph gets a trim. then we get pinkberry because we did the first time and it became a very delicious little tradition.
prettiest chocolate wrappers at dean and deluca.
so much rain lately, and it makes central park so so dreamy.
another of magnolia's because they always have the cutest decor! (look at that little party hat garland!)
weekend rooftop dinner! i made ralph's favorite chicken wild rice soup his mom always makes at home. (i always get a little nervous recreating her recipes because she is an amazing cook and i don't have her magic touch!) so i was more than pleased when this turned out delicious and i didn't screw it up too bad :)
more rainy days. so beautiful!
one of my favorites things i have done was a rooftop movie in brooklyn! i went with a group of girls in my ward to see clueless in williamsburg. it was so funny and i forgot how classic that movie really is. (there was rain warning so we all got poncho's but we lucked out with no drops!)
breakfast with my neighbor from home, kate, who i grew up with! we went to jack's wife freda and was not disappointed. holy cow. (she also brought some of my winter coats and i am FOREVER THANKFUL)
also, a memory to be cherished. (jk, it's the worst memory ever.) i ordered this specific mirror three months before we moved to nyc. i had it shipped to my friend's house in brooklyn because it was going out of stock. she held it there from april to july, i took a half hour train to get it, walked 2 miles IN THE RAIN to pick it up, could barely hold it with my hands, trained back to manhattan, lugged/carried it up to my room, only to find it. yup. shattered. good times. (this photo was minutes before i knew the truth and was showing ralph how excited i was to finally have it. little did i know! hahaha. i ended up laughing because i think everyone who lives in new york has a story like this and this was my turn!
we paid a little visit to the top of the rock to see the view. gosh, gets me every time! (my favorite view because you can actually see the empire state building!)
okay that is probably enough pictures for one post. more to come another day!
